Ebony is dense enough to sink in water. It is finely-textured and has a very smooth finish when polished. I had this (still have 2 more piece to make rings out of) ebony piece for some time now. It is so dense and have and beautiful. It almost feel like lighter metal when you hold it. Small cut off dropped on the floor and it sounded like metal too.
This Black African wood ring was crafted with a stainless steel core and shellac finish. I also crafted my first ring box but forgot to take some photos before this set was delivered to the new owner. Here are some photos I have taken during the process of hand crafting this Ebony ring.
